This interactive map is designed to be a useful resource where readers can quickly compare the responses to COVID-19 in prisons across the world.
The information has been acquired through a mix of government documents, research and media articles. This comprehensive list of resources will be updated regularly as we add more information.
We created the checklist for each country based on the interim guidance documents issued by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
At the first stage of the project, we selected twenty countries with the highest GDP (2020) and it will be gradually updated as the project moves onto the next stage in 2021.
