Race Equality in Prison: 10 years on from the Keith Report

In January 2016 our Patron Lord Ramsbotham, hosted a stakeholder seminar at the House of Lords to mark the 10th year anniversary since the publication of the Keith report. The Zahid Mubarek Public Inquiry, led by Justice Keith, was concluded by the publication of the report with 88 recommendations. The session aimed at providing an analysis of developments in prisons since the Race Review (2008) against the introduction of the NOMS Single Equality Scheme (2009) and ‘Benchmarking’ process (2013). Representatives of the voluntary and statutory sectors discussed the challenges of delivering comprehensive and effective equalities strategy in prisons.
