A Record of Our Own campaign was launched in June 2020 with the purpose to look at the impact of Covid-19 on prisoners from Black, Asian and minority ethnic background, including people from Gypsy, Roma and Traveller people. In partnership with The Traveller Movement and Partners of Prisoners (POPS), we hope to shed a light and open a dialogue on how some groups experience additional disadvantage as a result of circumstances, that are beyond their control, and what should the system and society do to improve this.

From June 2020 to March 2021, the campaign will be listening to stories of minority ethnic prisoners, their families and prison leavers to understand the impact of Covid-19, give a voice to the most marginalised communities who otherwise may not have a platform for sharing their first-hand experience and to identify key learning points from this pandemic to inform ongoing reviews and approach to minimising harm on these communities in the case of a future health crisis. You can learn more about the campaign at www.arecordofourown.org
